Postpartum Poem

High highs and low lows.
Sleepless nights and milestones.

Witching hours on the hip,
kissable cheeks and rosebud lips.

Late-night googling and unsolicited advice,
a new kind of love that knows no heights.

Intrusive thoughts and healing wounds,
navigating uncharted moods.

Cracked nipples and chunky thighs,
your whole world looking back at you with curious eyes.

Those first steps and that first ‘mama,’
knowing that this—this is pure nirvana.

The first year goes by so fast,
but with it we are born anew.
A brand new baby, and a brand new you.
